Power engineers of Smolensk are the best among high-voltage line servicing teams of IDGC of Centre

Professional competition of IDGC of Centre started on July 26. During four days on the ground of the Company division of Smolensk 11 teams were fighting for the title of the best. The competitors have to pass six stages. Theoretical knowledge of working regulations, instructions and standards were checked at the first stage. Theoretical part was checked using software system “Сenturion”. The other five stages were practical. Power engineers demonstrated skills in first-aid dressing for electrocution, elimination of fire hazard at wire damage, renewal of insulation and removal of foreign object from HVL wires.

Sergey Shumakher, Deputy General Director for Technical Policy of IDGC of Centre, noted: “In spite of severe weather events — rains and wind alternated with heat of about 40-degrees — the teams demonstrated high results, having proved once again, that power engineers of Russia can manage accomplishment of any set tasks on providing reliable electric power supply. I congratulate all participants of the competition and I hope that power engineers of Smolensk will demonstrate their best qualities at All-Russian competition in Penza!”

The honoured guests of solemn closing ceremony of competition were Mikhail Sharin, Deputy Governor of Smolensk region, Oleg Rybalko, Head of the Department for Power Industry, Power efficiency and Tariff Policy of Smolensk region, Heads and Chief engineers of all divisions of IDGC of Centre.

“It is you, employees of the high-voltage line servicing teams, who move to emergency scene in all weather, at any time of day and night at first signal. It is you who do all necessary to restore electric power supply quickly under conditions of increased danger. I am proud that our team has won, it has proved its selflessness and professionalism practically once and again”, — Oleg Rybalko emphasized.

The team of the division of IDGC of Centre – Bryanskenergo took the second place, it was a little bit weaker than the leader. Power engineers from Byansk land went home with valuable prizes — notebooks. Digital cameras were presented to the team of the division of IDGC of Centre — Yarenergo which took the third place according to score. The team of Kostromaenergo wan runner-up prize “For will to win”.

The best foreman and the best 35—110 kv HVL servicing electrician, the best specialist on work with gasoline-powered saw, the best judging panel were determined, and the best team vehicle was chosen according to individual score.

According to the opinion of participants of the competition Nikolay Kurbak and Elena Krikunova — referees of the second stage “Release of sufferer from transversal of metallic support of OTL-35 kv” became the best referees. Oleg Kapustin was recognized to be the best foreman in servicing OTL-35—110 kv, and Vladimir Volkov — the best electrician (both from Voronezhenergo).

Alexandr Egorkin, electrician on repair of OTL-35 kv of Orelenergo, was recognized to be the best specialist in work with gasoline-powered saw. Vehicles of driver Alexandr Pankov from Tambovenergo and Maxim Dedov from Belgorodenergo with equal score were recognized to be the best team vehicles.

The team of Smolenskenergo will represent IDGC of Centre on September 6—10 in Penza at All-Russian competition in professional skill of teams of servicing of high-voltage lines of distribution grids of IDGC Holding, JSC.
