Competition in IDGC of Centre’s 35—110 kv high-voltage line servicing started in Smolensk

Opening competition Sergey Shumakher, Deputy General Director for Technical Policy of IDGC of Centre, wished participants to demonstrate their professional skill and noted that there would be no losers among the teams regardless of the results and taken places.

“The best eleven IDGC of Centre’s 35—110 kv high-voltage line servicing teams came to Smolensk land to measure their strength in fair contest. All participants of the competition are already the winners as they are the best in their divisions. You are to pass difficult stages and to rise to new eminence in profession”, — Sergey Shumakher noted.

Dmitry Pankov, Director for Operation and Repair and chief referee of the competition, Nikolay Fedorov, Director of Smolenskenergo, and Mikhail Sharin, Deputy Governor of Smolensk region, wished the participants good luck.

At 14:00 p.m. the teams started to compete. In all the competitors have to pass six stages. Theoretical knowledge of working regulations, instructions and standards will be checked using software system “Сenturion” at the first stage. Within frameworks of the other five stages power engineers will demonstrate practical skills in first-aid dressing, elimination of fire hazard at wire damage, connection of stub of wires of anchor metal support, renewal of insulation and removal of foreign object from HVL wires.  

In view of hot weather in central Russia the site of training ground is provided with water, sun protection roofs and shower cabins. Today the weather favors the power engineers: in Smolensk region it is +28 degrees in the day time, +23 degrees in the evening, mostly cloudy. Four days of active fight for the title of the best lie ahead. IDGC of Centre’s team which will score the most, will represent the Company in Penza at All-Russian competition in professional skill of teams of servicing of high-voltage lines of distribution grids of IDGC Holding, JSC.
