Power engineers of Tverenergo installed more than 6.5 thousand new smart electricity meters in Rzhev

11.08.2020

The Tver branch of Rosseti Centre continues to modernize the electricity metering system. As part of the implementation of measures to reduce energy losses, more than 6.5 thousand meters of a new generation were installed in the city of Rzhev of the Tver region.

The newest high-tech devices have the function of hourly multi-tariff metering of electricity, power control and other parameters necessary for the consumer to plan electricity consumption and optimize payments for electricity.

The final stage of the meter installation is the admission of metering devices into operation. The procedure implies checking and determining the readiness of the measuring complex for its use when making payments for electrical energy. At the moment, about 2,200 consumers have been transferred to the new high-tech metering devices.

In total, about 7.1 thousand consumers will be transferred to the smart metering devices in Rzhev, this will reduce losses by 35.6 million kWh per year, which in monetary terms will amount to more than 131 million rubles.

“A large amount of work has been done in Rzhev to install the smart meters,” notes Alexander Pilyugin, First Deputy General Director - Chief Engineer of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region. “These metering devices have a number of advantages both for consumers and for the grid company: they are highly sensitive, provide remote monitoring of power quality parameters and power supply reliability, remote readings, disconnection of non-payers at the request of an energy sales company, control of power consumption, and, which is very important, allow tracing the source of losses, thereby preventing attempts to steal electricity.”
