Kurskenergo’s power engineers restored power supply interrupted by bad weather

On the night of 7-8 July 2020, the region experienced a sharp deterioration in weather conditions associated with the passage through the territory of the Kursk region of an atmospheric front, accompanied by rain, thunderstorms, and strong gusty winds exceeding 20 metres per second locally, which led to blackouts in settlements of the region. A powerful cyclone, which lasted several hours, led to a power outage in 10 municipalities.

The headquarters of “Rosseti Centre Kurskenergo” at 10:00 p.m. on 7 July introduced a high-availability mode. Repair crews of the branch promptly began to eliminate technological violations. During the night, work was quickly carried out to repair damage to the main grid. 34 emergency crews, 22 vehicles, 105 specialists were involved in emergency repairs and overhead line inspections at night. Additional crews of Distribution Zones of Kurskenergo from districts less affected by the bad weather were involved in the restoration work.

As of 9:00 a.m. on 8 July 2020, the restoration work has been completed. The crews are working on individual consumer complaints.

Kurskenergo’s operating staff conducts the restoration work in collaboration with territorial bodies of the Ministry of Emergencies and local authorities.
