Power engineers of “Rosseti Centre Lipetskenergo” in 2020 to clear over 600 hectares of routes of power lines

03.07.2020

The branch “Rosseti Centre Lipetskenergo” summed up the work on clearing routes of power lines from tree and shrubbery for 5 months of this year. During this period, as part of the implementation of the 2020 repair program, the branch’s specialists cleared about 406 hectares of routes in security zones of power lines. The largest amount of work was carried out in the Zadonsky and Lipetsky districts of the Lipetsk region.

To increase the efficiency and environmental friendliness of clearing works, the power engineers use specialized vehicles, in particular, mulchers. The machines chop the vegetation into wood chips, which subsequently does not require disposal. The use of mulchers allows clearing in a short time without harming the environment.

In the current epidemiological situation, clearing routes is carried out in compliance with all safety measures. The staff is provided with personal protective and hygienic equipment. Constant monitoring of the state of health of employees of the branch is performed.

“Clearing routes allows reducing negative consequences for consumers under the influence of adverse natural phenomena - strong wind, snowfall, freezing rain, as well as fire. Wire breakage and cross whipping during bad weather due to falling trees and large branches on overhead wires often cause technological disruptions in the grid complex. Particular attention is paid to clearing routes near residential areas where a wire break can cause an accident,” stressed Mikhail Boev, First Deputy Director - Chief Engineer of Lipetskenergo.

In total, by the end of the year, Lipetskenergo plans to clear over 600 hectares of routes of power lines. High-quality and timely work in this direction is designed to ensure reliable power supply to consumers in the autumn-winter period.
