Specialists of “Rosseti Centre Lipetskenergo” in 2020 to modernize about 38 kilometres of power lines using strong and durable insulated wire

10.06.2020

Specialists of the Lipetsk branch of Rosseti Centre began to implement measures to replace bare wire on 0.4-10 kV overhead power lines with self-supporting insulated wire (SIW). The work is carried out in preparation for the autumn-winter period of 2020-2021.

Compared with ordinary wire, the SIW wire has much higher mechanical strength and durability. Its application allows to reduce operating costs for maintenance of lines, to reduce the number of unauthorized connections to grids, theft of wires and related cases of electrical injuries at facilities. In addition, the use of SIW wires can reduce the number of technological violations due to adverse weather conditions. All this ultimately helps increase the reliability of power supply to consumers.

In total, the power engineers will replace more than 38 kilometres of overhead lines. The largest scope of work will be carried out in the Gryazinsky and Dankovsky districts of the Lipetsk region, where 11.6 km of lines will be replaced with self-supporting insulated wires. For these purposes, the branch will spend about 8.6 million rubles.
