The branch “Rosseti Centre Tverenergo” increases the reliability of the 110 kV “Bibirevo-Ponizovye” overhead line, which provides power to the factory “Hexa-Nonwovens” that produces protective medical masks

28.04.2020

Employees of “Rosseti Centre Tverenergo”, as part of a program to improve the reliability and lightning resistance of 110 kV overhead lines, install and replace insulators on the “Bibirevo-Ponizovye” line in the Zapadnodvinsky district of the Tver region.

This line provides electricity transit from the Tver to the Pskov region, and also provides power to the factory “Hexa-Nonwovens”, which manufactures medical products, including protective masks. It is planned that a total of 528 insulators will be replaced.

“In the current epidemiological situation, the Rosseti Centre company strictly abides by the instruction of the head of Rosseti’s group of companies, Pavel Livinskiy, on strict control over the functioning of the electric grid infrastructure, which provides electricity to social and medical facilities and enterprises, anti-epidemic structures and the medical industry,” noted First Deputy General Director - Chief Engineer of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization of Rosseti Centre and Volga Region Alexander Pilyugin.

The use of glass insulators can reduce operating costs for inspection and control of overhead power lines, search for breakdowns and replacement of failed insulators. The transparency of the glass enables easy visual control of its integrity. In the event of a failure, damage can be quickly identified without resorting to long line outages.

In addition, the absence of microcracks in glass insulators nullifies the possibility of latent current leaks to the ground. Modernization of 110 kV overhead lines will make it possible to quickly carry out repair work on power equipment, reduce risks of emergency situations and, as a result, improve the quality and reliability of power supply to consumers in the region.
