Smolenskenergo’s employee took part in creating a unique calendar for the 75th anniversary of Victory Day in World War II

23.04.2020

Vladimir Smirnov, the chief of the Yartsevsky Distribution Zone of the branch “Rosseti Centre Smolenskenergo”, has been fond of military-historical reconstruction for several years in his spare time and is the deputy head of the “Smolensky Boundary” Club of military-historical reconstruction. In preparation for the 75th anniversary of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War and in honour of the 5th anniversary of the club, its members created a calendar consisting of photographs from events.

“Our club is made up of like-minded patriots who are interested and close to the history of their country. At events I act as an organizer, participant and pyrotechnician, I actively participate in preparation of all reconstructions. This year our club will open the Victory Parade on the main square of the hero city of Smolensk, which was postponed due to the epidemic situation. The club will present three units of military equipment and two units of guns. In the meantime, in the absence of mass events, we decided to create a Victory Calendar, which included photographs of the club members in military uniform from reconstructions of past years. And, of course, in the photographs I am as a direct participant in the events, as well as members of my family: my son is a participant in reconstruction, my wife and daughter are regular spectators,” said Vladimir Smirnov.

The last club event was held on 23 February 2020 in the city of Smolensk. Within the framework of the Military Historical Festival dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War “There was a war, there was a Victory”, a military-historical reconstruction of the events of 1943 on the liberation of the city of Sychyovka during the Rzhev-Vyazemsky operation was carried out. The title of this episode is “Liberation”.
