Kostromaenergo’s employees in February introduced more than a hundred schoolchildren of Kostroma to the energy-saving culture

18.03.2020

Specialists of the branch “Rosseti Centre Kostromaenergo” conduct systematic work to teach schoolchildren in the Kostroma region the basics of the rational and safe use of energy resources. One of its key areas is energy conservation lessons. Not long ago, the next such classes were held in schools No. 1,8, 22 in Kostroma. About 100 schoolchildren in grades 5-8 attended them.

The power engineers, using simple examples, told the schoolchildren how important it is today to observe a culture of energy conservation and gave the guys a lot of practical advice. For example, do not leave household appliances in standby mode - turn off appliances from the wall outlet or use the disconnect buttons on the appliance itself, which saves an average of 200 - 300 kWh of electricity per year. In addition, during the lesson, each schoolchild was given the opportunity to feel a little bit of a power engineer and offer their ideas for energy saving. Many of the children’s suggestions turned out to be interesting and original.

“Energy efficiency lessons are very useful. They help shape the children’s personal interest in saving, and therefore in solving the urgent problem of energy conservation,” stressed Larisa Sidorova, a teacher at the municipal budgetary general education institution “School No. 1” in the city of Kostroma.

In total, in 2020, Kostromaenergo’s specialists plan to conduct about fifty such classes in educational institutions of the region.
