Smolenskenergo saved more than 26.7 million rubles in 2019 thanks to raids to identify non-metered electricity consumption

16.03.2020

The branch “Rosseti Centre Smolenskenergo” summed up the results of work in 2019 to reduce losses in electric grids. The greatest effect is brought by raids on identification of non-metered power consumption carried out by personnel of Distribution Zones and the branch’s electricity metering department, including in conjunction with specialists from the security unit. Based on the results of this work, 365 cases of noncontractual and non-metered consumption were identified and theft of electricity in the amount of 26.7 million rubles was stopped.

It is worth noting that the damage that the violators inflict on the power system directly affects the reliability of the power supply to all consumers. Illegal electricity consumption can cause power surges, power outages, slows down the repair and reconstruction of electrical installations and generally negatively affects the state of the electric grid complex of the Smolensk region.

The offender punishes himself. Often, the amount presented for non-metered electricity consumption is many times higher than the cost of the actual monthly volume of electricity consumption. This is due to the fact that losses are determined by calculation. If the amount presented by the power engineers is not paid, the case will be submitted to court. In this case, an unscrupulous consumer will be forced to pay also legal costs.

The funds saved as a result of the implementation of the Program of measures to reduce electricity losses are used as an additional source of financing for solving the priority production tasks facing the branch.

Smolenskenergo reminds residents of the Smolensk region that it is possible to report facts of possible violations of the law by calling the round-the-clock hotline at 8-800-50-50-115 (toll-free) or by email at vorunet@mrsk-1.ru.
