20.02.2020

The Book Donation Day is one of the young holidays on the calendar, uniting everyone who gives books and instills a love of reading for children and it is celebrated on 14 February. On this day, power engineers of the Ostrovsky Distribution Zone of the branch “Rosseti Centre Kostromaenergo” visited children from the Ostrovsky Centre for Assisting Children Without Parental Care. They gave the teenagers about 30 copies of books - fairy tales, science fiction stories and novels, fiction about the war, as well as popular science literature. The youngest children received as a gift colouring pages “Energolandiya” and memos “Safe childhood”.

For 5 years, employees of the Ostrovsky Distribution Zone have been participating in the “Book Donation Day” action. During this time, about 200 copies of literature were collected and transferred to various categories of children.

“Kostromaenergo, and our Distribution Zone, in particular, is a socially oriented enterprise, actively participating in such regional actions and contests. We are pleased to organize an annual collection of books for children. A large number of publications this time is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, we hope that in the year of the 75th anniversary of the Victory these books will be especially relevant for children,” commented the chief of the Ostrovsky Distribution Zone Sergey Chistyakov.
“We are grateful to the power engineers for their help and care for the children,” says Tatyana Gorokhova, a senior educator at the Ostrovsky Centre for Assisting Children Without Parental Care. “The book, in our age of the Internet, is still the best gift and we are all happy about every publication. Children will enjoy reading books new to them.”
