Yarenergo checked the quality of workwear and tested safety systems when working at height

12.02.2020

On the basis of the branch “Rosseti Centre Yarenergo” there was a demonstration of samples of special clothing and developments of safety systems for working at heights, which are proposed for use when working on power line poles of various designs and voltage classes, as well as equipment for substations of 35-110 kV.

The event was attended by the largest manufacturers of workwear and personal protective equipment, heads of industrial safety and production control departments of the executive office and branches of Rosseti Centre and Rosseti Centre and Volga Region.

The developers presented the latest safety systems designed for use by electricians when working on poles of power lines, 35-110 kV disconnectors and other structures. Also, samples of workwear and safety shoes, including innovative models of Russian manufacturers, were presented. All types of products were tested in practical conditions, the expert group evaluated the quality and ease of use, as well as the possibility and expediency of use in production activities.

“Technological progress does not stand still, manufacturing companies create more and more advanced equipment, personal protective equipment from modern materials. We carefully monitor all their achievements, try and test products. Not always new and high-tech samples are more convenient. For example, a complex and accurate fastening system, which works perfectly in laboratory conditions, at a temperature of minus twenty and snow sticking can no longer show itself so well and create difficulties for the electrician. No less important is the weight of the products. In hard-to-reach areas, where even highly passable vehicles cannot get through, equipment is delivered by people in the truest sense of the word on their hands. Overly complicated heavy structures will not add to their comfort. Therefore, we test all samples in real conditions, see how they work, offer our employees to use them and give their estimates. Based on the testing results, we give feedback to manufacturers in areas requiring improvement,” stressed Oleg Lazaev, deputy chief engineer - head of the industrial safety and production control department of the branch “Rosseti Centre Yarenergo”.
