10.02.2020

Last weekend, Kursk residents celebrated the 77th anniversary of the liberation of Kursk from Nazi invaders. According to the established tradition, on 8 February, employees and veterans of the branch “Rosseti Centre Kurskenergo” together with representatives of government bodies, political parties, public organizations, military units of the Kursk garrison laid fresh flowers at the memorial site “In memory of the fallen in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945” and honoured with a minute of silence the memory of soldiers and officers who accomplished an immortal feat, giving their lives for peace on earth. Here, in ten mass graves, about five thousand soldiers are buried.

Kurskenergo’s employees cherish the memory of the liberators of their hometown, of 147 Kursk power engineers who went to the front in the early days of the war, and of the rear workers. The Museum of the History of Energy of the Kursk Region contains materials telling about the battles on the Kursk Bulge, where the head of the “Zheleznogorskaya” substation 330-kV Ivan Cherdak, security service specialists and special units Ivan Chernyshov and Vladimir Soroka, the electrician of the Khomutovsky Distribution Zone Ivan Fedin and the electrician of the Lgovsky Distribution Zone Evgeny Schekodin fought. And in Distribution Zones of the branch, historical corners were created where copies of the Victory Banner, photographs telling about the exploits of the veterans - power engineers are carefully stored.

“Behind our fathers, grandfathers, great-grandfathers there is a brutal war, the restoration of the destroyed national economy. The combat and labour exploits of the participants of the Great Patriotic War will always serve as an example for present and future generations,” stressed Alexander Rudnevsky, Deputy General Director - Director of the branch “Rosseti Centre Kurskenergo”.
