Lipetskenergo revealed 870 facts of theft of electric energy since the beginning of the year

27.11.2019

In October, specialists of the Izmalkovsky Distribution Zone revealed non-metered consumption of an entire enterprise. The creamery at the request of the energy sales organization since March 2019 has been disconnected from electricity for violation of payment discipline. However, during the control check, it turned out that the businessman ignored the ban and again arbitrarily connected to the power lines. Now, under the act of non-contractual consumption, he will have to pay for 2.8 million kWh in the amount of over 20 million rubles. Since the violator did not compensate the damage caused during 10 days established by law, the branch “Rosseti Centre Lipetskenergo” will file a lawsuit with a request for the enforcement of the resulting debt.

For just 10 months of the current year, employees of the electricity metering and loss optimization section, together with the security service of Lipetskenergo, organized 180 specialized raids to identify facts of illegal electricity consumption. The amount of damage for the stolen 16.11 million kWh amounted to 29.12 million rubles.

The raids carried out showed that the vast majority of violators use long-known methods of theft of electricity. The most common of them are various manipulations with meters and unauthorized connections to power lines.

Lipetskenergo’s specialists remind of toughening federal legislation for unauthorized connection to electric grids. In addition to damages, the violator will be required to pay an administrative fine. For repeated illegal access, individuals must pay from 15 to 30 thousand rubles, legal entities from 200 to 300 thousand rubles.

“Today, there are no methods of theft of electricity that our experts could not have identified,” comments Sergey Vetrov, Deputy Director for Sale and Development of Services at Rosseti Centre Lipetskenergo. “The power engineers are armed with automatic energy metering systems that show real-time “unbalance” on individual lines, antimagnetic seals, hidden wiring indicators, and other modern technical means.”
