08.11.2019

Governor of the Tver Region Igor Rudenya praised the actions of specialists of Rosseti’s Group of Companies to eliminate the consequences of a hurricane of rare force that hit the Upper Volga Region on the night of 28 October.

The head of the region thanked Pavel Livinskiy, Director General of Rosseti’s Group of Companies, and the company’s staff for their promptness, professionalism, high level of responsibility and smooth interaction - work on the restoration of power supply was carried out by Rosseti in cooperation with the Government of the Tver Region, together with the regional Ministry of Emergencies and municipal authorities.

On Sunday night, a powerful gale-force wind of up to 25 m/s passed through the territory of the Tver region, causing damage to power lines and power outages in the region. The most significant damage was caused to power grid facilities of the Vyshnevolotsky, Spirovsky, Maksatikhinsky, Bezhetsky, Udomelsky, Bologovsky and Lesnoy districts.

The restoration of power supply in the region was controlled by the headquarters of the power grid complex under the leadership of Pavel Livinskiy, Director General of Rosseti. By his decision, additional forces and means of other branches of Rosseti Centre - the managing organization Rosseti Centre and Volga Region were transferred to accelerate the course of restoration work in the Tver region, and crews of Rosseti Moscow Region also arrived in the region.

Work was carried out by power engineers, including at night, and was complicated by difficult weather conditions - gusts of squally wind knocking down.

On 28 October, Governor of the Tver Region Igor Rudenya, the head of the Tver branch of Rosseti Centre Manvel Mazhonts and the head of the General Directorate of the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia for the Tver Region Arsen Grigoryan flew over the territories and inspected the progress and results of the restoration work.

On the night of 30 October, the region was covered by a new atmospheric front in the form of wet snow and a squally gusty wind. The power engineers, who had been working around the clock for two days before this, immediately began restoration work. Particularly intense emergency recovery activities were carried out in marshy areas, where, during the transition from the thaw to frost, due to high humidity and freezing of precipitation on poles and wires, extended overhead lines failed.

Governor Igor Rudenya was in constant contact with Director General of Rosseti Pavel Livinskiy.

The progress of emergency recovery work directly in the region was controlled by First Deputy Director General - Chief Engineer of Rosseti’s Group of Companies Andrey Mayorov and General Director of Rosseti Centre Igor Makovskiy.

On 1 November, the main grid in all districts of the Tver region, affected by the effects of the second blow of the bad weather, was restored. Currently, the electric grid complex of Tverenergo is operating normally.

“Last week, the bad weather threw a difficult challenge to the power grid complex of Rosseti, with which the company’s specialists coped with dignity, responsibly fulfilling their tasks. Thanks to the exercises of Rosseti’s Group of Companies on organizing interaction during the elimination of mass violations at electric grid facilities held in the autumn of 2018 in the Tver branch of Rosseti Centre, extreme situations similar to this natural phenomenon were worked out in advance. The experience gained allowed us to quickly take control of the situation and act as clearly, harmoniously and effectively as possible,” stressed Pavel Livinskiy, Director General of Rosseti’s Group of Companies.

125 crews of the Tver branch, as well as 219 involved crews of subsidiaries of Rosseti’s Group of Companies, consisting of more than 1,400 staff, were involved in the power supply restoration.
