Power engineers of Rosseti Centre Yarenergo for five years repaired and constructed 482 power facilities in the city of Yaroslavl

23.10.2019

Yarenergo summed up the preliminary results of the five-year work of the Yaroslavl city electric grid as part of Rosseti Centre. Please, be reminded that in 2015 the former OJSC “Yaroslavl City Electric Grid” became one of the structural subdivisions of the Yaroslavl branch of Rosseti Centre.

The electric grid complex of Distribution Zone of category 1 “Yaroslavl city electric grid” has more than a thousand transformer substations and distribution points, more than three thousand kilometres of electric grids. The city electric grid supplies electric power to the main part of the residential sector of Yaroslavl, life support facilities, social and communal services, and government organizations. To ensure their reliable and high-quality power supply, it is necessary to timely carry out a whole range of technical measures, first of all, repair of power facilities as part of the annual repair campaign of Rosseti Centre. Over the past five years, Yarenergo’s specialists repaired 361 transformer substations and distribution points, about 85 kilometres of cable power lines and 242 kilometres of overhead lines, replaced 35 kilometres of bare wire with self-supporting insulated wire.

Another important area is the modernization and reconstruction of energy facilities. Over the past years, a global reconstruction of grid assets of Distribution Zone of category 1 “Yaroslavl city electric grid” was carried out: the replacement of obsolete switching devices in 6-10 kV distribution points with modern ones with a higher resource and reliability, reconstruction of relay protection using microprocessor protection. Technical re-equipment and reconstruction of 59 transformer substations and distribution points, 39 kilometres of power lines was carried out. The new equipment allows electrical installations to operate normally under peak loads, increases the reliability of the distribution grid, the quality of voltage, and also helps reduce electricity losses in grids.

The capital centre of the Yaroslavl region develops dynamically, new production facilities, shopping centres appear, housing construction is actively carried out, and, therefore, the load on the electric grid increases. In just a year or two, a new residential micro-district with the need for electric energy of 1 MW or more may appear in the city. To meet these needs, the Yarenergo branch is constructing new energy facilities. For five years, 210 kilometres of power lines, 114 transformer substations and 7 distribution points were constructed.

The significant facilities of recent years are a transformer substation with a capacity of 2,000 kVA in the settlement of Pavlovsky, which supplies electricity to residential buildings on Spasskaya Street, transformer substations and distribution points on Radischev, Uglichskaya, Mayorov, Kavkazskaya, Papanin Streets and Mashinostroiteley Avenue, which feed new residential buildings and shopping centres. A transformer substation on Dyadkovskaya Street supplies voltage to a water park, while a substation on Podzelenie Street supplies electricity to apartment buildings on Naberezhnaya, Damansky Peninsula, Strelka, and Assumption Cathedral.

“Every year, a large amount of repairs is carried out at power facilities, new equipment is implemented, primarily digital, in accordance with the concept of digital transformation of electric grids adopted by Rosseti. The construction of new transformer substations and distribution points is our strategic task in terms of balancing the load of consumers and creating a reliable power supply scheme with the possibility of redundancy. For example, a distribution substation constructed in 2017 on Podzelenie Street made it possible to significantly unload two existing distribution points in the central part of the city and increase the reliability of energy supply to consumers in the Unesco zone,” stressed Alexey Kozyrev, the chief of Distribution Zone of category 1 “Yaroslavl city electric grid” of the branch “Rosseti Centre Yarenergo”.

Among the promising projects of the Yarenergo branch is the technical re-equipment of the city control centre. Digital equipment will allow to increase the efficiency of information transfer at all levels of operational dispatch control, increase the speed of reaction to emergency situations and make dispatchers work more efficiently. Also, the modernization of the automated electricity metering system (AMR) will continue, which provides remote collection and processing of energy consumption information and controls the quality parameters of supplied electric energy to consumers. Currently, the system covers more than 13 thousand points of delivery of electric energy.
