“Week without turnstiles” was held at Kostromaenergo

23.10.2019

The branch “Rosseti Centre Kostromaenergo” took part in the All-Russian action “Week without turnstiles” aimed at creating an early career guidance system for adolescents and youth. As part of the action, Kostroma power engineers organized excursions for high school students in schools of the city of Kostroma and the Kostroma region, as well as students of higher and special educational institutions of the region. About 250 people took part in them.

One of the recent excursions was conducted for 50 first-year students of the Electrical Engineering Department of the Kostroma Energy College. It began at the Museum of the History of the Energy System of the Kostroma Region. The specialists of the branch told the young people about the formation and development of the electric grid complex of the region, about the main activities of Kostromaenergo. Using an electrification map, the students learned when the first lines and substations were constructed in the region, which facilities are currently being upgraded. And on the interactive site “Rational and Safe Use of Energy” they were presented with modern energy-saving equipment and given pieces of advice on the economical use of household appliances and electrical appliances. In addition, the students were told about the working conditions at the enterprise and about the social guarantees provided to employees.

At Kostromaenergo’s Grid Control Centre (GCC), the “brain centre” of the enterprise, which collects all the information about the status of substations and overhead power lines, the young people were shown how to remotely control power facilities, how modern technologies help personnel online monitor operations of first responding mobile crews, receive the data necessary for analysis and decision making.

The guests of Kostromaenergo thanked the branch’s specialists for an interesting excursion.

“Such actions like the “Week without turnstiles” are undoubtedly useful. Our students here in an accessible and interactive form receive knowledge about the work of the enterprise and the power engineering profession, which will help them later on consciously decide on the future profession,” stressed Maya Kuznetsova, the head of production training at the Kostroma Energy College.
