Yarenergo creates a digital Distribution Zone

22.10.2019

Within the framework of the project “Digital Distribution Zone”, the branch “Rosseti Centre Yarenergo” will reconstruct the distribution grid using reclosers, controlled disconnectors, short circuit indicators, as well as set up communication channels and other elements for increasing the observability of electric grids in Tutaevsky district of the Yaroslavl region.

By the end of 2019, Yaroslavl power engineers plan to install about 28 reclosers and 10 sets of controlled disconnectors, which in case of emergency will instantly disconnect the faulty grid section and reserve most of the load, as well as install 64 short-circuit indicators. This will allow to segment the electrical grid, identify faulty sections and make switches in a remote automatic mode, will help significantly reduce the time to eliminate emergency situations.

In parallel, the power engineers are implementing an integrated energy monitoring system. Already this year, 353 transformer substations of 10/0.4 kV will be equipped with telemetry devices, which will provide voltage control at all 0.4 kV outgoing feeders and transfer data to Yarenergo’s Grid Control Centre. All 0.4 kV bushings will be equipped with smart metering devices for the automated control system for energy management (automated electricity metering system).

The implementation of digital technologies in the power grid complex of Tutaevsky district will increase its reliability, make dispatch control more efficient, reduce the response time to emergencies, avoiding long-term restrictions on power supply to consumers, and reduce the loss of electric energy in grids. The implementation of the “Digital Distribution Zone” project is part of the general concept of digital transformation, implemented by Rosseti Centre, which involves the transformation of the domestic power grid infrastructure through the implementation of modern technologies.
