Yaroslavl power engineers told schoolchildren about ways to save energy

26.09.2019

Employees of the branch “Rosseti Centre Yarenergo” held a thematic lesson on energy efficiency as part of the All-Russian Festival of Energy Saving and Ecology #TogetherBrighter at the Einstein Museum of Entertaining Sciences. The event was attended by junior pupils of school number 49 in the city of Yaroslavl.

The power engineers acquainted the schoolchildren with the rules of rational use of energy resources, held a quiz “My energy-efficient room”, where the children had to reduce energy consumption in the room, played the interactive game “EnergoCrocodile”.

On the example of various lamps - LED, mercury and incandescent lamps - the specialists of the branch “Rosseti Centre Yarenergo” showed the efficient use of electric energy in everyday life, when energy savings can reach tens of times to create the same level of illumination in a room. In order to accurately take into account the consumed electricity, the power engineers recommended using modern metering devices that can remotely transmit data on consumed kilowatt hours. For Rosseti Centre, the creation of a smart electricity metering system is one of the basic elements for building an automated grid. Thousands of such meters combined into one automated metering system provide analytical information for the development of energy saving and energy efficiency programs.

In the lesson, the guys saw a series of videos “Let’s talk about energy conservation”, where the main ways of saving energy resources are shown in a simple and accessible form. For example, do not put hot foods in the refrigerator, turn on the air conditioner only with windows and window openings closed, use a washing machine with optimal load of linen. Well, the simplest thing is not to leave the lights, water and electrical appliances turned on if it is not required.

At the end of the lesson, the experimenter and professor Volt, a regular at the Einstein Museum of Entertaining Sciences, drew the audience’s attention. The professor showed an electric performance “Tesla’s Experiments”, in which he tamed lightnings, created static voltage and lit lamps in his hands with the help of a magnetic field.

Yaroslavl power engineers annually support the initiative of the Ministry of Energy of Russia aimed at fostering respect for energy and the environment with a younger generation. This year, energy-efficient lessons will be held in the region’s schools and Open Doors Days at the branch “Rosseti Centre Yarenergo” in the Yaroslavl region.
