In mid-September 2019, specialists of the branch “Rosseti Centre Smolenskenergo”, together with teachers of schools in the Smolensk region, conducted more than a dozen lessons on energy-saving technologies, telling hundreds of pupils about the importance of saving energy and heat, about the close relationship between ecology and energy saving.

The project “Energy Saving Week” is being implemented within the framework of the All-Russian Festival of Energy Saving and Ecology “Together Brighter” - 2019. The first event of the “Energy Saving Week” was held at Gymnasium named after Przhevalsky in the city of Smolensk for pupils of the 6th grade. The power engineers told the children about what electricity is, what natural resources are used to generate it, and why it is so important to know the rules of energy conservation since childhood. The lesson was held in the form of the team game “Energy Rescue Crew”. After the lesson, the children not only received answers to their questions, but also took pleasure in taking pictures with hashtag posters in support of the festival #TogetherBrighter, #i_save_energy, #i_say_yes_to_energy_saving, #we_are_for_energy-efficient_technology, #we_think_about_the_future and many more.

Similar lessons were held for pupils of secondary schools of the city of Smolensk No. 1, 5, 6, 7, 10, 33 and 37, Lyceum No. 1 named after Academician B.N. Petrov, as well as the Prigorsky and Talashkinsky schools of Smolensky district, Safonovo Gymnasium, the school of the Usvyatsky rural settlement and other educational institutions. The main goal of the events is to attract the attention of the younger generation to the issues of rational and safe use of energy resources. The children had the opportunity to learn how to save energy in everyday life, to study various types of energy-saving lamps and to get acquainted with their differences from ordinary incandescent lamps. Smolenskenergo’s specialists are confident that the guys will apply energy conservation rules in their daily lives.

The project “Energy saving lessons in schools located in the regions of the company’s operations” began already in 2014. Then the Smolensk branch of Rosseti Centre became the first among the company’s branches to conduct lessons from 1 September 2014. To date, Smolenskenergo’s specialists have conducted more than 300 energy-saving lessons in schools in the Smolensk region.
