Specialists of Rosseti Centre Yarenergo held a seminar for students and teachers of DOSAAF

20.09.2019

Specialists of the branch “Rosseti Centre Yarenergo” held a seminar for cadets and teachers of the Yaroslavl DOSAAF driving school as part of the work to prevent third-party electrical injuries. The topic of the meeting was loading and unloading and construction work with heavy equipment near power lines in violation of their security zones.

The lecture was attended by future truck drivers sent to the training by the military enlistment office, and experienced teachers of driving schools - those who daily tell cadets about the road regulations.

According to statistics, most accidents at power facilities occur through the fault of victims themselves. One reason is non-compliance with safety rules. Igor Meshkov, a leading engineer of the production control and industrial safety office of the branch “Rosseti Centre Yarenergo”, emphasized that loading and unloading, construction and storage of materials are forbidden in the security zones of power lines. It is dangerous for bulky transport to move along a highway with a raised body, as power lines can cross the road. The height of the car passing under power lines should not exceed 4.5 metres. Out of ignorance or negligence, the driver can approach an unacceptable distance to the power line and get under voltage. As for earthworks near cable power lines, their implementation is possible only with permission from their owner. At a distance of less than 1 m from the cable route, the use of earthmoving equipment is not allowed, less than 5 m - shock and vibro-submersible mechanisms.

The power engineers talked about “step voltage” and ways to exit the danger zone. They explained what to do if special equipment was still in the zone of electric current. To save life, the driver must not leave the cab of the car. It is necessary to immediately contact the power engineers by phone at 8 800 50 50 115 to turn off the line. If a fire starts in the car or another life threat occurs, the driver can jump out of the cab, but only simultaneously touching the ground with two legs, and then with a goose step, without taking his feet off the ground and from each other, leave at a distance of 8-10 metres from the danger zone. During the jump, the simultaneous touching of the vehicle body and the ground should be excluded.

In conclusion, the employees of Yarenergo answered questions, presented leaflets with the rules for staying in the protected areas of energy facilities. Such meetings of the power engineers are held regularly in order to prevent loss of life as a result of careless handling of electricity.
