The branch “Rosseti Centre Kurskenergo” conducts systematic work to reduce losses in the distribution grid.
For 7 months of 2019, the branch transmitted 1.812 billion kWh of electricity to consumers, while losses under comparable conditions compared to the same period last year decreased by 13.2 million kWh, which is 0.64% of the supply to the grid. This volume is enough, for example, in order to provide electricity to consumers of Oktyabrsky district of the Kursk region with a population of more than 24 thousand people for five months.
These indicators were achieved thanks to the systematic work of the power engineers, which includes a whole range of measures, including the modernization of existing electricity metering systems, as well as the equipping of consumers’ electricity meters with anti-magnetic and anti-vandal seals.
Contributing to the reduction of losses is also the optimization of power grids through the installation of substation equipment that meets the new standards, and the control of regulation of the operating modes of power transformers in order to optimize their load. Kurskenergo reduced technical losses that occur during the transmission of electricity by replacing wires with a larger cross section for overloaded power lines, using energy-efficient power transformers with reduced no-load losses during new construction.
Reducing losses in electric grids is one of the priority areas of Kurskenergo’s activity. The result of this work is an increase in the net supply of electricity and, as a result, the ability to channel additional funds for construction, technical re-equipment and repair of energy facilities. As a result, this allows improving the quality and reliability of energy supply to consumers in the region.
