16.09.2019

Employees of Rosseti Centre Belgorodenergo together with the Housing and Public Utilities Department of the Belgorod Region conducted a lesson for schoolchildren “Energy Saver in the Digital City”. Over 30 pupils of the 4th grade of Belgorod Lyceum No. 32 took part in the event.

An unusual lesson was held as part of the All-Russian Energy Week and the All-Russian Festival of Energy Saving #TogetherBrighter. Deputy Head of the Housing and Public Utilities Department of the Belgorod Region, Alexey Botvinyev, said that the All-Russian Festival of Energy Saving and Ecology #TogetherBrighter - 2019 is walking around the country these days, the main idea of which is that every adult or child at home or at work can see and show an example of caring for energy and natural resources. The future of the energy sector lies with digital technology and modern systems. The sooner we will instill in children the knowledge about them, the easier and more convenient it will be for them to use them in the future.”

Belgorodenergo’s engineers spoke about digital technologies and intelligent equipment in the modern electric power industry on behalf of the character of Energy Saver, which is already known to the schoolchildren. Together with the fairy-tale character, the guys walked the streets of the “digital” city, got acquainted with the first digital substation “Nikolskoye”, the Unified Grid Control Centre, from where operators will remotely control the entire electric grid complex, saw how “smart” meters count electricity, and “smart” lights illuminate the streets, learned how switching devices can prevent a power line failure.

The guys were most interested in the electric power storage device, modern electric cars for repair crews and a digital electrician. The deputy chief engineer - the head of high-voltage grids office of Rosseti Centre Belgorodenergo, Mikhail Malykhin, spoke about the new profession: “Energy is developing rapidly. New systems and equipment are being implemented, new positions are appearing, as never before, in-depth knowledge and the desire to work in a new way are demanded. The current generation of schoolchildren has to catch up this fast pace of digitalization. To do this, we must lay the foundations and prepare the guys for the digital future, which is already starting today.”

At the end of the lesson, the schoolchildren together remembered the rules for the safe handling of electricity, successfully answered the quiz questions and learned how to go out of the zone of electric shock with a goose step.

Belgorodenergo’s employees are planning to discuss these important topics with schoolchildren as often as possible, as this will help children better understand what the modern electric power industry is living and striving for.
