Power engineers spent two days practicing actions to eliminate emergency situations at low temperatures.
Due to sticking of wet snow, a wire breakage occurred on a 10 kV overhead line. This condition to occur was received by specialists of the branch “Rosseti Centre Lipetskenergo”. Crews of power engineers left for the place. With the help of a hydraulic lift, the wire was repaired. This is only one of the four training tasks of the two-day special exercises that took place in Lev-Tolstovsky Distribution Zone. The power engineers also restored a fallen pole, provided power to a de-energized hospital from a backup power source, and extinguished fire at the “Astapovo” substation after a transformer ignited.
The exercises were held with the participation of the General Directorate of the EMERCOM in the Lipetsk region, personnel of dispatching services of the branch of FGC UES Verkhne-Donskoye PMES, the branch of OJSC SO UES “Regional dispatching administration of the Lipetsk region energy system” and executive authorities.
The training participants were faced with the task of quickly identifying the extent and clarification of damage, determining the number of personnel, equipment and materials needed for emergency recovery work, coordinating the dispatch and work of the crews and vehicles. All the training participants coped with the tasks.
Similar exercises are held in preparation for the autumn-winter period. Regular joint training of power engineers and operational services will help more effectively respond to challenges of bad weather and more quickly restore power supply to consumers.
