Representatives of Lipetskenergo and LSTU discussed training of innovative specialists

11.09.2019

A meeting of representatives of the energy company and heads of scientific departments of the Lipetsk State Technical University took place at the branch “Rosseti Centre Lipetskenergo”. The parties discussed training for implementation of the digital transformation program.

The Lipetsk branch of Rosseti Centre is seriously engaged in the modernization of the electric grid complex of the Lipetsk region using the “digits”. The power engineers have already installed a significant part of the “smart” metering system, and now they are completing the development of an UAV with artificial intelligence and the project of the Unified Grid Control Centre. Ahead is the creation of a digital Distribution Zone, a digital electrician and digital communications. To participate in this work, the branch “Rosseti Centre Lipetskenergo” needs specialists with innovative thinking who have competencies in several complex scientific disciplines at once.

This, in particular, is about applied mathematics, automated control systems, electrical equipment and electric drives. Today, LSTU trains specialists of each of these areas individually - four corresponding departments are engaged in this. However, for the digital transformation of the power grid complex, employees who have comprehensive knowledge in all four of these areas are needed. It was precisely the training of such specialists that the scientists-teachers and energy specialists spoke about.

The representatives of the technical university readily responded to the proposal of the power engineers to train such professionals. In the near future, the university will determine the form of training for such students. Moreover, the university’s representatives came to a meeting with students who are interested in developing a new direction for themselves. Lipetskenergo’s specialists told them in detail about PJSC Rosseti’s Digital Transformation 2030 program and showed them in the grid control centre how the modern electric grid complex of the region works.

“In order to engage in research and development, you need to have a multidisciplinary education. There are not many such specialists in Lipetsk today, and we are ready to help universities prepare them literally from the first year. There is a good current program for training and attracting young people to the Rosseti company: practice in student groups, seminars, forums, specialized championships for solving professional problems. I am sure that together with the Lipetsk State Technical University, we will be able to find among students energy innovators who Lipetskenergo needs so much,” Oleg Seredkin, the head of the technological development department of the Lipetsk branch of Rosseti Centre, summed up the meeting.
