Voronezhenergo provided power to new schools and kindergartens for the new school year

30.08.2019

Specialists of the branch “Rosseti Centre Voronezhenergo” completed connection to electric grids of three new comprehensive schools and seven kindergartens, which will be commissioned this year as part of the national projects “Demography” and “Housing and Urban Environment”.

The new kindergarten in the district centre of Semiluki will receive 220 children, which will reduce by a third the turn in nursery groups. On the territory of the kindergarten with an area of more than 14 thousand square meters, there are twelve playgrounds, as well as a sports ground and a platform for studying traffic rules, the coating of which will be made of crumb rubber. To provide the pre-school institution with electricity, Voronezhenergo’s specialists constructed a 2*250 kVA substation, laid two cable-overhead lines of 3.2 km long, and also installed a 0.4 kV distribution grid section.

In the Voronezh micro-district of Borovoye this autumn two children’s educational institutions will open at once: a kindergarten for 280 places and a school for 1,101 places. The new school, built on a special project, is equipped with four gyms for practicing various sports. In order to provide it with electricity, the power engineers completed the reconstruction of substation SS No. 23, constructed a new transformer substation with a capacity of 1,000 kVA, and also laid 4 km of a cable-overhead power line. Due to the landscape, part of the cable under the channel and in the floodplain of the Usmanka River was laid using the trenchless method of laying underground utilities (horizontal directional drilling) using special drilling sets.

The same method was applied when laying two cable lines with a total length of 10 km for grid connection of another school in Zheleznodorozhny district in the regional centre. The educational institution on Artamonov street, designed for 1,224 places, was erected in a quarter with a high building density. It occupies four buildings and is equipped with two sports halls, a sports ground and a stadium.

In the village of Otradnoye in Novousmansky district, when performing work on connecting a new school to the power grid, reclosers were installed on newly constructed power lines. High-tech devices allow to automate the process of locating and isolating fault on overhead lines, and also provide, if necessary, the automatic switching on of backup power. In addition, the school, which will open the doors for 1,224 pupils on 1 September, is one of the most equipped in the Voronezh region: there will be mobile computer classes, a media library, equipment for robotics, design, 3-D modelling, and a printing house. To conduct technology lessons, workshops will be provided with modern turning, milling machines, sewing machines, devices for teaching sewing and modelling.

“We understand how important it is for each family to have a kindergarten or school within walking distance from home. Therefore, Voronezhenergo’s specialists performed all the work necessary to ensure the energy supply of the newly commissioned educational institutions, exactly on time, and in some cases ahead of schedule. The use of modern high-tech equipment on the power lines supplying schools and kindergartens will minimize interruptions in the supply of electricity and ensure a normal, uninterrupted educational process,” stressed Vyacheslav Antonov, Chief Engineer of the branch “Rosseti Centre Voronezhenergo”.
