Tver power engineers reveal facts of energy theft as part of exercises to combat electricity losses

27.08.2019

The branch “Rosseti Centre Tverenergo” sums up the interim results of the implementation of a package of measures as part of large-scale exercises to combat commercial electricity losses.

Since the beginning of August, power engineers have revealed 45 facts of non-metered electricity consumption, as well as 16 cases of resource consumption in the absence of an agreement with the grid company. The total amount of illegal energy consumption in the service area of Tverenergo was more than 550 thousand kWh.

For all confirmed cases of theft of electricity, the branch’s specialists draw up relevant acts, on the basis of which statements are sent to law enforcement authorities for administrative or criminal measures.

Electricity metering crews record the largest number of non-metered consumption in Kimrsky Distribution Zone.

Facts of unauthorized connection to electric grids were more often revealed in Konakovsky, Sandovsky, Bologovsky and Kimrsky districts.

The power engineers note that for some consumers, the volume of identified non-contractual consumption was more than 50 thousand kWh.

During the instrumental examination of metering devices, Tverenergo’s specialists use the most advanced technologies for detecting illegal connections and high-tech interventions in the operation of metering systems.

So, at the integrated car wash service enterprise in Konakovsky district, when inspecting the meter, indirect signs of outside interference were revealed. Currently, the metering set has been sent for examination in order to determine the correctness of its work.

“For 2 weeks since the start of the exercises, the Tver branch of Rosseti Centre has already checked nearly 30 thousand consumers,” said Manvel Mazhonts, Deputy General Director - Director of the branch “Rosseti Centre Tverenergo”. “The scale of the measures provides for a comprehensive coverage of the region - checks will be held for each consumer in the service area of the branch. We remind once again that serious punishment is provided for electricity theft. For all the facts of theft, the attackers will be held administratively or criminally liable.”

Violators should not forget that an invoice for non-metered energy consumption will significantly exceed the cost of electricity obtained legally. In addition to paying for already used kilowatt hours calculated in accordance with the law, the violators will have to pay a fine in accordance with Article 7.19 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation “Unauthorized connection and use of electric, thermal energy, oil or gas” (for citizens in the amount of 10 to 15 thousand rubles, for legal entities - from 100 to 200 thousand rubles).
