Kostromaenergo since the beginning of the year revealed about 300 cases of electricity theft

The branch “Rosseti Centre Kostromaenergo” summed up the results of work to identify facts of electricity theft for six months of 2019. During this period, the branch’s specialists identified 212 cases of non-metered consumption in the amount of 7.5 million kWh and 81 cases of non-contractual electricity consumption worth more than 6.4 million rubles. In relation to offenders, acts on non-metered electricity consumption were drawn up and applications were sent to law enforcement agencies.

The largest volume of non-metered electricity consumption is 150.6 thousand kWh, which in monetary terms is more than 605 thousand rubles, was identified at an individual entrepreneur in Kostroma. The offender carried out the theft by connecting some non-metered load to an electricity meter. All materials on this case were sent to the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kostroma region.

Please, be reminded since 9 June 2019, amendments to the Code of the Russian Federation on Administrative Offenses have entered into force. The fines for repeated unauthorized connection to electric grids, as well as unauthorized (non-metered) use of electricity doubled. Now for citizens they make up from 15 to 30 thousand rubles. The changes also affected legal entities. Organizations will pay fines from 200 to 300 thousand rubles, officials - from 80 to 200 thousand rubles, or will be disqualified for a period of two to three years.
