Specialists of the branch “Rosseti Centre Voronezhenergo” are clearing routes of power lines in Novousmansky district of the Voronezh region. The work is being carried out as part of emergency response training exercises that started in Novousmansky Distribution Zone on 29 July.
At the moment, the power engineers have cleared more than 11.6 hectares of routes from wood and shrubbery vegetation on 4 overhead lines of voltage levels of 6 and 10 kV, providing power supply to consumers in the settlements of Babyakovo, Budyonny, Volya, Rakitino, Shuberskoye, Somovo, Makarye, Impelevka, Plyasovo-Kitaevo, Dzerzhinsky, Yuzhny, Andreevka, Trudovoye, Krasino, Astra, Orlovo, Novaya Usman, Semiluksky Vyselki, Plodsovkhoz, Novousmansky State Farm and Zarechensky State Farm.
During the exercises, all-terrain mechanical wood shredders - mulchers are actively used. They provide continuous grinding of vegetation into chips, which subsequently do not have to be disposed of. At the same time, the volume of manual labour is reduced, productivity is improved, the area of clearing is significantly increased.
“Clearing the protection zones of power lines, as well as sawing up trees located next to such zones and threatening to fall on the line, will help avoid short circuits, wire breaks in case of increased wind loads and the passage of snow cyclones during the upcoming heating period,” emphasized Chief Engineer of the branch “Rosseti Centre Voronezhenergo” Vyacheslav Antonov.
A total of 6 crews of Voronezhenergo consisting of 46 people and 15 vehicles will be involved in the exercises, which will end on 11 August. They have to clear about 22 hectares of routes of overhead power lines.
Novousmansky district, part of the Voronezh agglomeration, is one of the most actively developing suburbs of the regional centre and at the moment Novousmansky Distribution Zone is one of the largest in the branch. As part of the digital transformation concept, implemented by Rosseti’s Group of Companies, in 2020 a digital Distribution Zone will be created on its basis, which will significantly reduce the number and time of eliminating technological violations and, as a result, improve the quality and reliability of power supply to consumers.
