Kostromaenergo improves work on managing the region’s electric grid

05.08.2019

At the branch “Rosseti Centre Kostromaenergo”, work is underway to create a unified grid control centre (UGCC), which will result in a significant increase in the observability and controllability of electric grid facilities.

Measures to reform the operational-technological management system are carried out by power engineers of the company as part of the implementation of one of the key projects of the Digital Transformation Concept 2030 and the Development Concept of the operational-technological and situational management system in the power grid complex of PJSC Rosseti.

To date, the status of power lines of the Kostroma region is monitored by employees of the branch from 27 control centres that are in every district of the region. The creation of the UGCC will bring the grid management to a whole new level - the competencies of managing the region’s main and distribution grid will be concentrated at one point. “Kostromaenergo’s dispatchers on-line will be able to monitor the operation of more than 23 thousand kilometres of power lines, analyze the parameters of the quality of electricity and current data on the voltage at the consumer. It is expected that the work of the UGCC, which will use the latest technologies and systems, will significantly reduce the response time to a technological violation in the grid,” stressed Pavel Kolotilov, Deputy Chief Engineer for Operational-Technological and Situational Management - Head of the Grid Control Centre of Kostromaenergo.

The UGCC will be located on one of the floors of the central office of Kostromaenergo. It is equipped with modern information systems and digital communication channels. More than fifteen dispatchers will work in it simultaneously. The construction of the UGCC is planned to be completed in 2021.
