The Tver branch of Rosseti Centre has completed the development of a grid connection project for the memorial complex to the Soviet soldier in Rzhevsky district.

The opening of the Rzhev Memorial is scheduled for May 2020 and will rightfully become the central event of the celebrations dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory.

“It will be one of the largest monuments dedicated to the Soviet soldier. For us, this project is a landmark, great trust has been placed in the Tver region,” says Governor Igor Rudenya.

The creation of an architectural ensemble involves a comprehensive project for the development of the adjacent territory. It is planned that in scale it will be among the five largest memorial complexes in Russia dedicated to the Great Patriotic War.

The project involves a large-scale infrastructure, including museum compositions, which will house memorial and conference rooms, parking for transport, catering. The original backlight system was especially designed for the memorial.

The monument will be erected near the village of Khoroshevo in Rzhevsky district of the Tver region, and will be visible from the M-9 highway.

The specialists of Rosseti Centre Tverenergo plan a large scope of work on the electrification of the memorial complex. The customer contract demand of the grid connection of the project will be 149 kW. Power supply will be provided from the 110/35/10 kV “Rzhev” substation. The project provides for the design and construction of a new 10/0.4 kV package transformer substation with a 160 kVA transformer. The power engineers will also construct a new 10 kV cable-overhead line to the projected 10/0.4 kV package transformer substation with a total length of 0.2 km and install a 0.4 kV cable line with a length of about 0.015 km. All work is scheduled for completion this autumn.

“The sculpture to the Soviet soldier will embody not only a monument to the Great Victory, but also a symbol of the sorrow of the Soviet people, because the Battle of Rzhev is one of the most tragic pages in the history of the Great Patriotic War,” stresses Manvel Mazhonts, Deputy General Director - director of the branch “Rosseti Centre Tverenergo”. “The set of works conducted by the Tver branch of Rosseti Centre is not only a technical, but also a patriotic task for the power engineers, implying participation in historical memory, respect and reverent attitude to all who fell on the battlefields for the freedom of the Fatherland.”

The creation of the Rzhev Memorial is included in the Government Plan of the main activities for the preparation and conduct of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.
