Employees of Rosseti Centre Belgorodenergo held the first training session on the basics of digital transformation of the power industry for students of the project shift in physics, astronomy and mathematics of the Open Engineering School of Belgorod State University. Pupils of grades 7-8 of schools from different districts of the region became participants of an informative excursion to the Centre for Energy Efficiency.
The young researchers got acquainted with the main directions of the country’s electric power industry development and the tasks that the industry faces as part of building a digital electrical grid with qualitatively new reliability characteristics.
The guys were interested in the samples of intellectual equipment presented at the Centre, which is already used in electricity management and distribution systems, as well as examples of future digital technologies, the introduction of which will increase the observability, controllability and, accordingly, the efficiency of the electric grid complex. Special attention was attracted by the projects of creating the first digital substation, digital Distribution Zones, the Unified Grid Control Centre, as well as practical knowledge and skills that employees must have to manage digital facilities of the power grid. In conclusion, the pupils read new poems from Energy Saver, telling in simple and understandable language about the coming digital age of energy.
According to Belgorodenergo’s specialists, such classes help children better understand what the modern electric power industry lives and strives for, increases the digital literacy of the younger generation, motivates scientific and practical work and shows the advantages and prospects of the power engineering profession in general. The next lesson for students of the Engineering School will be held in early August.

The Open Engineering School of Belgorod State University was created within the framework of the project of the same name with the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the regional governor, regional departments of education and economic development. Classes in the Engineering School have a practical focus. Recruitment to school is carried out in twelve areas of engineering in various age categories. Each student can try himself in any of the 12 areas of the humanities, natural sciences and engineering specializations.
