A mobile group to combat energy stealing started to work at “Rosseti Centre Lipetskenergo”

15.07.2019

Power engineers will test a new form of struggle against electricity theft.

A mobile inspection control group has been created at the branch “Rosseti Centre Lipetskenergo”. Security personnel travel to districts of the Lipetsk region, where they have received signals about possible cases of electricity theft.

For example, a “modified” meter was found by a group of inspection control in a shopping centre in the city of Dankov of the Lipetsk region. As the energy specialists found out, the metering device was periodically stopped using a special device. Thus, four stores located in the building for more than five months passed on an understated reading of electricity consumption. A non-metered consumption report was drawn up for 143,281 kWh, which is equivalent to 698 thousand rubles.

The inspection materials of the branch “Rosseti Centre Lipetskenergo” were sent to the police for a decision on the initiation of a criminal case on this fact under Art. 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation: the infliction of property damage by fraud or abuse of trust. The law provides for a punishment with a fine of 300 thousand rubles, up to two years in prison.

“Money that unscrupulous consumers underpay for electricity should go to repairs of power grid facilities, to prepare them for the autumn-winter maximum load. Thus, violators cause damage not only to Rosseti. They primarily harm themselves and their neighbours. After all, due to insufficient funding, the quality and reliability of electricity supply may decrease,” explained the consequences of non-metered consumption Alexander Rastorguev, the head of the security department of the branch “Rosseti Centre Lipetskenergo”.

In total, during the month of work, the mobile inspection control group revealed five cases of non-metered and non-contractual consumption of 326 thousand kWh of electricity. The power engineers managed to prevent theft of electricity worth more than 1.5 million rubles. You can report cases of electricity theft by calling the direct line of power engineers at 8 800 50 50 115. The call is toll-free, the service operates around the clock.
