As part of the 2019 repair campaign Smolenskenergo’s specialists to repair 1,894 kilometres of overhead power lines

26.06.2019

Since April, specialists of Rosseti Centre - Smolenskenergo division have started mass repair and maintenance work aimed at improving the reliability of Smolenskenergo’s power grid complex and ensuring uninterrupted power supply to consumers in the region. The readiness of the branch for the autumn-winter period of 2019-2020 and the failure-free passage of winter maximum of loads directly depends on the successful and timely implementation of repairs.

Mass repairs are carried out by power engineers annually from April to October, and are an important condition for ensuring the reliability of operation of the region’s power grid complex in the upcoming autumn-winter period.

This year, as part of the repair campaign, the power engineers will have to repair 1,894 kilometres of overhead power lines of all voltage classes and 651 transformer substations. In order to prevent emergencies, it is planned to clear 2,501.26 hectares of routes along overhead power lines from trees and shrubs.

By the start of the mass repair season in 1Q, 156.113 km of 6-10 kV overhead lines and 67 6-10/0.4 kV transformer substations had been repaired. The branch’s own forces carried out workshop repair works on 14 6-10 kV power transformers and replaced 146 insulators. The clearing of 200 hectares of routes by own forces and 101.94 hectares with the help of contracting organizations was completed successfully, which in general amounted to 12% of the annual plan. The emphasis in this period was placed on work in difficult places, marshlands, where the possibility of special transport in the warm season is difficult.

In April and May, the power engineers repaired another 101.4 km of 35-110 kV overhead lines, 293.55 km of 0.4-10 kV overhead lines, and 205 6-10/0.4 kV transformer substations. Works on shop repair of 36 6-10 kV power transformers were carried out. In addition, 471.18 ha of routes of 6-110 kV high-voltage lines were cleared and 1,301 insulators were replaced.

The plans are distributed in half a year equally, respectively, in the first half of the year, the power engineers must complete about 50% of the work planned for the year.

The implementation of the branch’s repair program is aimed at ensuring the operability of power lines and substations, the trouble-free passage of the heating season and the overall increase in the reliability of the regional power grid complex.

*- From June 2019, all companies of the transmission and distribution grid complex in corporate and marketing communications, as well as on all corporate identity carriers will use the new name containing the Rosseti trademark and regional or functional binding.
