Power engineers of the Kostroma branch of Rosseti Centre commemorated those who died during the Great Patriotic War

23.06.2019

Employees of Rosseti Centre - Kostromaenergo division and veterans of the company on 22 June took part in events dedicated to the Day of Memory and Grief.

At the memorial of Military Glory “Eternal Flame” in Kostroma, the power engineers of different generations took part in a litia and a solemn meeting. Remembering one of the most tragic dates in the history of our country, they, together with all residents of the Kostroma land gathered here, honoured the memory of the dead with a minute of silence, and after the requiem and solemn march of the banner group laid wreaths and flowers to the common graves of soldiers who gave their lives for the freedom of our country during the years of World War II.

“The feat of the people, who not only survived the tragedy, and managed to withstand in such difficult times, but also restored the country out of the ruins, will never be forgotten. Our gratitude to the victorious warriors and home front workers. Thank you for the great feat, for the freedom and independence of our Fatherland!”, stressed Ekaterina Ushanova, the Chair of the Council of Veterans of Kostromaenergo.

On the fronts of the Great Patriotic War, 300 workers of the Kostroma municipal electrical grid company fought against the German fascist invaders. For courage and heroism orders and medals were awarded to 600 power engineers - residents of the Kostroma land.

Kostromaenergo sacredly commemorates the defenders of the Motherland. In 2007, the Monument to the Fallen Power Engineers was opened in the Central Electric Grids. In 2010, in honour of the 65th anniversary of the Great Victory, a memorial plaque was opened in honour of the power engineers who fought bravely on the war fronts. The “Annals of Military Glory” are annually updated with new pages. They are stored in the museum of the history of the Kostroma power system.
