06.06.2019

IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division conducts systematic work to reduce losses in electric grids. One of the effective directions of this work are raids to curb non-metered and non-contractual consumption, analysis of meter readings of consumers.

As a result of this work, from January to April 2019, the energy company revealed 147 facts of non-contractual and non-metered energy consumption with a total volume of over 1.7 million kWh. The amount of damage exceeded 2.3 million rubles. To date, consumers paid 1.8 million rubles.

Major facts of non-metered consumption of electricity in excess of 187,000 kWh were found by specialists of the electricity metering office and the security department of Kurskenergo in the gardening non-profit partnerships “Khimfarm” and “Primorskoye” (the city of Kursk and Kursky district). The amount of damage caused to the branch was more than 600,000 rubles.

Materials were promptly sent to law enforcement agencies for a decision within the framework of current legislation under the fact of non-metered consumption of electricity in the two gardening non-profit partnerships. To date, in relation to “Khimfarm” a criminal case has been opened under Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, materials about the illegal actions of the management of the gardening non-profit partnership “Primorskoye” are being studied by employees of the Russian Interior Ministry’s department in Kursky district of the Kursk region.

The power engineers warn that unauthorized use of electricity entails both administrative and criminal liability, falling under Article 165 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Causing property damage by deception or abuse of trust” (punished by a fine or imprisonment for up to five years).

It should be remembered that illegal connections can cause voltage drops and short-circuits in the grid. At the same time, the implementation of independent connections can lead to serious injuries, including death, to violators themselves.
