Belgorodenergo creates a system for monitoring the quality of outdoor lighting in the region

31.05.2019

IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division is creating its Lighting Quality Monitoring System in the Belgorod region.

Within the framework of the project, the engineers combined the database of objects for outdoor lighting of the region with the geographic information system, dividing the lamps by type and visualizing the location of each on the map. The system includes information on the types of lighting fixtures, lamp power, poles and cabinets for controlling outdoor lighting in relation to the terrain and the operating Distribution Zone.

At the moment, 90 types of the lighting fixtures have been visualized in the amount of 194,409 pieces. As a result, it became possible to analyze the operation of outdoor lighting networks in terms of the presence of unlit areas, installation sites for certain types of the lighting fixtures, to assist in the planning of work on replacement of the lighting fixtures and reconstruction of outdoor lighting networks.

In the near future, the lighting quality control module will appear in the automated control system for outdoor lighting, with the help of which it will be possible to monitor the status of outdoor lighting fixtures and cabinets in real time using the user interface in the form of a map.

The power engineers will be able to remotely, without going to the place, to determine the lines of outdoor lighting with non-burning lamps, a specific pole, and the lamp itself (in the case of an individual control system of light points), its type and lamp power. This will significantly reduce the time for maintenance and, as a result, reduce the number of public complaints about problems in the work of outdoor lighting. Access to information, if necessary, will be provided to specialists of the department of housing and communal services of the region.

Reference:

Currently, Belgorodenergo maintains over 206 thousand lighting fixtures. 65% are controlled by an automated outdoor lighting control system. The current operation of outdoor lighting networks is ensured by the power engineers on the basis of contracts concluded with municipalities of the region.
