Development of operational-technological and situational grid management was discussed in Tver

On 29 May, in Tver, on the site of the Tver Training and Production Centre, an educational and methodological gathering of heads and specialists of operational and situational departments of the Grid Control Centre of branches of IDGC of Centre and IDGC of Centre and Volga Region was held under the direction of Deputy Chief Engineer for Operational and Technological and Situational Management - Head of Operational-Technological and Situational Management Department of IDGC of Centre Yaroslav Yurikov.

Welcoming the participants of the meeting on the territory of the Tver branch, Deputy General Director of IDGC of the Centre - Tverenergo division director Manvel Mazhonts noted that it is modern and high-tech grid control centers that control the operation of power equipment in real time, allow to minimize the risk of emergency situations, promptly eliminate emerging technological violations and ensure the normal operation of electric grids, which in combination is the key to high-quality electricity supply to consumers.

The central theme of the meeting was the introduction of a new subdivision into the structure of the company’s grid control centres - operational and situational departments (OSD). The primary and priority task of the subdivision is to increase the effectiveness of the interaction of forces and means involved in the prevention and elimination of major technological disruptions at electric grid facilities.

The participants discussed the main tasks of the new functional unit while maintaining the readiness of the forces and facilities of the company’s branches for emergency recovery operations. In the dialogue mode, the leaders considered the issues of the OSD activity in organizing joint exercises and emergency response trainings of power engineers.

A separate thematic focus of the meeting was the issue of the activity of another subdivision recently introduced into the structure of the Tver branch of IDGC of Centre - the professional emergency and rescue unit (PESU) of IDGC of Centre.

The final stage of the meeting was a visit by the heads of the operational and technological unit of the Tver Grid Control Centre, where the guests could see the technical equipment of the Centre, modern means of communication and telecommunications, the work of the operational staff regulating the activities of field crews and monitoring the situation in the region.

“The professional activity of the operational-technological and situational management unit is associated with work in situations that require the skills of operational information analysis and lightning decision-making,” stressed Yaroslav Yurikov, Deputy Chief Engineer for Operational and Technological and Situational Management of IDGC of Centre. “These circumstances dictate their conditions and require employees to be able to perform actions as efficiently as possible, on which the quality of power supply to consumers ultimately depends. It is for this purpose that we continue to improve the system of operational-technological and situational management and introduce into the Grid Control Centre structure the new subdivision that will minimize the time needed for rapid response to abnormal situations, ensure the development of a set of preventive measures and, as a result, increase the reliability of the electric grid of the regions of the Centre and Volga Region.”
