Employees of Firovsky Distribution Zone of IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division planted over 600 two-year-old spruce seedlings in a forest area near the village of Yarmolino of the Tver region.
The work was carried out by the power engineers within the framework of the spring action “All-Russian Forest Planting Day”, which traditionally takes place in the territory of the Upper Volga region. During May, activities on gardening of settlements, landscaping of squares and parks and planting of young trees in the forests are held in all municipalities of the region.
The tree planting event was held in conjunction with the Firovsky Forestry of the Tver region.
These environmental actions are regularly held by the Tver branch of IDGC of Centre in order to increase the number of green spaces and improve the environmental situation in the region. An important task of such events is also the implementation of the so-called compensatory landings. When clearing routes, power engineers in some cases are forced to cut down trees that grow in protective zones of power transmission lines and with strong winds or other adverse weather phenomena can damage power lines. Therefore, the staff of Tverenergo annually conducts work on gardening in the area of presence for the preservation, reproduction and enhancement of forest resources.
“Forests are called lungs of the planet, it is believed that they are the main suppliers of oxygen to the atmosphere and have a positive effect on the environment. Today, the volume of deforestation often exceeds the volume of its natural restoration. Tverenergo, being a branch of a socially responsible grid company, regularly conducts additional measures to restore forests. The planted trees are a personal contribution of the Tver branch of IDGC of Centre to ensuring environmental safety and maintaining the region’s ecosystem,” stresses Sergey Krikovtsev, the chief engineer of Firovsky Distribution Zone of IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division.
