On the eve of the 74th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, employees of IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division with the support of the primary trade union organization congratulated power engineers who participated in the war and home front workers. According to a longstanding tradition, on the eve Voronezhenergo’s specialists visited veterans at home, handed them flowers and memorable gifts.
To date, 24 veterans live in the Voronezh region who have dedicated their lives to working in the electric grid complex. Of these, three are participants in the Great Patriotic War, 21 are home front workers and prisoners of concentration camps.
“We carefully preserve and try to transfer from generation to generation the memory of the invaluable feat that our veterans did. Overcoming the enemy, who was previously considered invincible, restoring the country from the ashes, and then, despite all the difficulties, developing the country’s energy complex at an unprecedented pace - this is why we are proud of these people and learn from them courage, everyday perseverance and genuine optimism,” stressed the head of the HR department of Voronezhenergo Evgeny Novikov.
The power engineers honour not only the living veterans, but also sacredly recognize the memory of those who gave their lives for the cause of the Great Victory. In preparation for the celebration of Victory Day, members of the youth council of the branch, with the support of Voronezhenergo’s trade union, painted fences, pruned trees and cleared the rubble of the memorial complex located in the Somovo micro-district on Kurnatovsky Street - here almost 250 soldiers are in the mass grave, who died during battles for the Voronezh land.
