IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division together with the regional department of education and BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov announced the regional school competition for electrical safety and energy efficiency “Energy and Man - 2019”. This year, winners and prize-winners of the regional stage will be able to take part in the summer project energy shift of the Engineering School of BelSU.
The competition is held in two nominations: design and theoretical work. Pupils of grades 1-11 of the region are invited to participate in it. The children are invited to develop a model, make a product, assemble a scheme or conduct a study on one of the topics relevant to energy, and then protect their work in the form of an open presentation.
On 15 April, the first (school) stage of the competition started. The municipal and regional stages will begin on 23 September and 28 October, respectively. The decisive defense of projects will traditionally be held on the basis of Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov in late November. Projects will be evaluated by a jury composed of professional energy specialists, university professors and representatives of the education department of the Belgorod region. Summing up and awarding of winners will be held in December, on the eve of the Power Engineers’ Day. The “Energy and Man” competition has been held since 2015 in order to identify and promote gifted children and increase their motivation for further training in engineering-related higher education programs. Every year hundreds of children from different parts of the region participate in it. The victory gives students extra points when enrolling at the Institute of Energy, Information Technology and Control Systems at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov. In addition, the best projects of students of grades 8-10, by decision of the organizing committee, without a preliminary selection can claim to participate in the All-Russian competition of scientific and technological projects “Sirius”.
