Kurskenergo’s Council of Veterans summed up the work and discussed plans for the near future

The reporting and election conference of the Council of Veterans was held at IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division, at which the organization’s results for 2016–2018 were summed up and plans for the current year were discussed. The event was attended by delegates and authorized persons by Distribution Zones, the head of Kurskenergo Alexander Rudnevsky, the chairmen of the Council of Veterans of the Kursk region and the Central District of the city of Kursk Valery Sundukov and Oleg Mikheev, the chairman of the Kursk regional organization of the public association “All-Russian power engineering union”, the chairman of the trade union of the branch Nikolay Kalinin.

The report on the work of the veterans’ organization was presented by its chairman Valentin Shkilev. He noted that during the period under review, the Council actively participated in the lives of veterans and the team of Kurskenergo, as well as in the region as a whole.

In particular, the Council of Veterans dealt with issues of social support for energy workers who have their well-deserved rest: 40 veterans received material assistance for the purchase of expensive medicines, 10 veterans were compensated for the cost of a sanatorium-resort voucher for treatment. In 2018, members of the Council of Veterans and the Youth Council visited at home 182 pensioners with a problem state of health. They were helped with the housework, they brought products to those who were most in need, they were given monetary assistance.

Activists of the Council of Veterans regularly visited the training centre of operating personnel of Kurskenergo, where they spoke to young professionals who raised their qualifications, participated in the safety days in Distribution Zones, shared their experience with students of the construction crew “Energetik”, and participated in the Victory Day celebrations.

Together with representatives of the Youth Council of Kurskenergo, the Council of Veterans arranged twelve graves of participants of the Great Patriotic War in Kursk, in the framework of the Victory Day celebration, organized a trip to the Northern front of the Kursk Bulge for those who wanted.

In August 2018, a meeting of young people and veterans of the company with veterans of the Great Patriotic War and Labour of the Republic of Bashkortostan was held at the branch of Kurskenergo. A warm welcome was arranged for the guests; tours to the Museum of the History of Energy of the Kursk Region and to the Grid Control Centre of Kurskenergo were organized for them.

An important event in the life of the branch’s veterans was a meeting with General Director of IDGC of Centre Igor Makovskiy, who expressed gratitude and appreciation to the veterans: “We still enjoy the legacy you left us, and it is important for us to involve you in the processes that occur in the company and have your actively participation in them,” stressed the head of the company.

The experience of the Council of Veterans of Kurskenergo during the reporting period interested representatives of other veterans’ organizations in the region. In 2017, the branch hosted a meeting of veterans of the enterprise with active members of the regional organization of war veterans, labour, the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies. The participants shared their insights, discussed issues that arise with retirees.

According to the chairman of the Kursk regional veterans’ organization Valery Sundukov, its activists adopted the experience of the participation of power engineers in the professional development and patriotic education of young people.

Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division director Alexander Rudnevsky thanked the veterans for their good work: “Most of the power engineers who have gone to their well-deserved rest, continue to take an active life position, participate in the team’s work: they come up with suggestions to improve the quality of life of pensioners, to increase the efficiency of the branch, to perpetuate the memory of honoured power engineers, and the management of Kurskenergo and the trade union committee provide the necessary assistance and support in these initiatives,” stressed Alexander Rudnevsky.

Delegates of the conference appreciated the work done by the Council of Veterans positively, after which they chose a new composition of the Council of Veterans and the Chairman of the veterans’ organization. It was again Valentin Shkilev. The majority of the delegates voted for him.

Further, the conference participants discussed the main activities of Kurskenergo’s Council of Veterans for the current year. They are connected with the preparation of the Book of Memory to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, care for the veterans of the enterprise who need help. And, of course, the organization will continue to take an active part in the life of Kurskenergo’s team.

The veterans’ organization of the branch “Kurskenergo” was organized in January 2010. Today it has 1,116 people, including 18 veterans of the Great Patriotic War: three participants, 13 rear workers, two juvenile prisoners.
