IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division does systematic work on the implementation of its personnel policy aimed at training young specialists for work in the electric grid complex of the Voronezh region. In the context of the implementation of the Digital Transformation Concept 2030, the industry needs specialists who have received modern specialized education in the field of the electric power industry.
One of the most effective areas of the personnel training for Voronezhenergo is cooperation with higher education institutions. So, at the beginning of 2019 between the Voronezh branch of IDGC of Centre and the Voronezh State Agrarian University named after Emperor Peter I an agreement was reached on the allocation of targeted budgetary places in the full-time department for training students in the specialization “Electrical equipment and electrical technologies in the agro-industrial complex”. Under the terms of the contract, graduates of the target selection at the end of the university will receive jobs in the enterprise. In addition to guaranteed employment, the employer will accompany students during the training phase, supervising their workplace and pre-diploma practice.
The selection of applicants begins long before the admission committee starts working at the university. At the first stage, specialists of the technical unit of Voronezhenergo and representatives of the partner university interview high-school students who plan to link their profession with the electric power industry. The main selection criterion, along with the desire to work in one of the largest power grid companies in Russia - IDGC of Centre, are the marks in the secondary general education certificate (grade 9) and for the first half of the 11th grade in algebra, geometry and physics, the subsequent successful passing of the Unified State Examination in the Russian language, mathematics and physics.
On 14 April, a special commission, which included representatives of both Voronezhenergo and the partner institution of higher education - the Voronezh State Agrarian University, interviewed candidates for the training target group. More than 30 high school students from different parts of the region expressed their wish to receive qualifications in the electric power industry. According to the results of the work, the commission selected 20 future applicants. The next selection stage will take place after the students pass the Unified State Examination.
“We are confident that all applicants selected by the commission will successfully continue their studies at the Voronezh Agrarian University, after which they will join the large team of professionals of our company. Cooperation with higher educational institutions allows us to avoid the problem of “personnel hunger” and ensures high qualification of young specialists,” said Evgeny Novikov, the head of the human resources department at Voronezhenergo.
The Voronezh branch of IDGC of Centre carries out constant work on vocational guidance among students of specialized higher and secondary educational institutions of both the Voronezh region and other regions of the country. Students are accepted for on-the-job and pre-diploma practice, “open doors days” and tours to production facilities are organized for them, summer shifts of students’ construction crews working at power facilities of the branch are held.
Over the past five years, the branch “Voronezhenergo” employed 55 graduates of relevant universities. More than 250 students completed the practice and defended their diploma projects on the specialization of the energy company. As a result of the partnership of power engineers with educational institutions, a comfortable adaptation of new employees, who have just graduated from universities, takes place, and a young staff is formed that meets the goals and objectives of the modern Russian energy industry.
