Belgorodenergo demonstrated digital equipment of a new generation on the Day of the Master

09.04.2019

More than 120 masters from 22 Distribution Zones took part in the annual Day of the Master for maintenance of distribution grids, which was held on the basis of Belgorodsky Distribution Zone of IDGC of Centre - Belgorodenergo division. The main topic of the meeting was the implementation of the digital transformation program for the electric grid complex of the region and practical acquaintance with the principles of creating a “smart” grid.

The power engineers discussed the topic of eliminating the risks of industrial injuries of staff, analyzed the first results of working with individual video recording sets, exchanged views on mounting and installing distribution grid elements, diagnostics and operation of 0.4-10 kV cable lines, got acquainted with samples of digital equipment for creating the smart grid: a controlled disconnector and short circuit indicators.

The devices are designed to isolate faulty sections of the grid and as quickly as possible to restore interrupted power supply. The branch plans to install innovative disconnectors in conjunction with short circuit indicators, which in real time determine the faulty part of the grid by transferring data to the dispatcher. The meeting participants observed the methods of colour indication of the device in the event of various emergency situations, learned the general principles of operation and the method of installation.

At the training ground, the master personnel were vividly demonstrated the remote switching on and off of the controlled disconnector from the Distribution Zone control room. Everyone was able to see the design and specifics of the installation of the switching device on the power transmission line pole, as well as to personally test the system of manual and remote control.

As the head of the distribution grids office, Alexander Starodubtsev, explained, over the next three years, 71 reclosers and 129 controlled disconnectors with sets of short circuit indicators will be installed in Belgorodenergo’s grids as part of the digital transformation program. First of all, 10 (6) kV overhead lines will be automated, feeding socially significant facilities and sections with uninsulated wire. The use of intelligent switching devices will significantly reduce the time of isolation of faulty sections of the grid, reduce the undersupply of electricity and significantly improve the reliability and quality of power supply to consumers.

Please, be reminded that the Belgorod region has become one of the pilot regions in terms of implementing the concept of digital transformation, which involves the complete transformation of the domestic electric grid infrastructure through the implementation of digital technologies. The result will be a significant reduction in operating and investment costs of grid companies, reducing power losses, improving reliability, availability of grid infrastructure and creating a whole range of additional customer services.
