Kostromaenergo’s specialists conduct career guidance campaign in schools of the Kostroma region

An open doors day for schoolchildren of the Ostrovskaya secondary school was held in Ostrovsky Distribution Zone of IDGC of Centre - Kostromaenergo division. High school students of the 9th grade were introduced to the work of the grid company.

The chief of Ostrovsky Distribution Zone Sergey Chistyakov told the young people about the structure, production activities, and the main tasks of Kostromaenergo. The chief engineer Yury Lebedev on the model of electric grids of Ostrovsky Distribution Zone told the students about the power supply of their district and how the electricity is supplied to consumers. The young people also visited the office of the relay protection service, where an engineer Alexander Maslakov introduced the young people to substation equipment. He explained to the ninth-graders in detail what skills the power engineer should have, so that due to his work and well-coordinated actions the assigned section of electrical equipment is always kept in excellent condition, and problems found in electrical installations are fixed as soon as possible.

The guys learned how to take readings of electricity metering devices, about the fight against losses and theft in electric grids. Using the example of a thermal imager, they were shown how electrical equipment is diagnosed. Olga Pakueva, the head of the production and technical group, talked with the guests of the Distribution Zone about the electrical safety rules, and with the dummy “Gosha” she showed the basics of first aid to the victim of electric current.

In addition, the students learned about working conditions, benefits and social guarantees provided to employees of the Kostroma branch of IDGC of Centre. They also learned about the concept of digital transformation of the electric grid complex and the company’s plans for its implementation. At the end of the Open Doors Day, the young people were given brochures of educational institutions where they can get an energy education.

According to the schoolchildren, the tour turned out to be very interesting and informative, and the teacher Olga Rusova thanked the staff of Ostrovsky Distribution Zone for organizing the Open Doors Day. Then workers of Kostromaenergo’s executive office took up the baton of the vocational guidance campaign. They conducted master classes in several senior grades at Volgorechenskaya secondary school No. 3. The future students were also told about the work of the power engineers of IDGC of Centre, about the concept of digital development of the electric grid complex and reminded them of the electrical safety rules.
