IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division completed the preparation for the flood period. Power engineers carried out a set of measures aimed at ensuring reliable operation of power grid facilities of the Kursk region during the flood period. The readiness of the branch was confirmed by the flood commission.
The specialists of the branch formed a list of 44 facilities and sections of overhead lines located in the zone of increased risk of flooding. Among them there are the 35-110 kV overhead lines “Sadovaya - Zolotukhino”, “Kurskaya CHPP-1 - Schetmash”, “Oktyabrskaya - Starkovo” and the 110 kV substations “Rudnaya”, “Oboyan”, “Khomutovka”, and “Central”.
The power engineers examined the overhead lines (Conductors) crossing over the rivers, checked the state of banking of foundations of poles and protection of the foundations of the poles from ice drifts, checked the status of substations located near water bodies and rivers. In order to prevent flooding of substation equipment, drainage facilities, drainage systems and pump-down devices were put in order, and premises of the substations were cleared of snow.
Specialized vehicles, floating equipment, emergency reserve of materials and equipment, stationary and mobile pumps were made available. A check was carried out on the operability of the remote signaling system, communication facilities and alerts. In the case of preventive power outages due to high water levels during flooding, backup power supply schemes were developed.
For the period of the flood Kurskenergo organized duty of emergency crews and specialized vehicles around the clock, operational interaction with regional authorities and the General Directorate of the EMERCOM of Russia in the Kursk region.
