Specialists of the branch “Tverenergo” recorded 84 cases of electricity theft since the beginning of 2019

13.03.2019

IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division continues the systematic work on identifying and preventing non-metered and non-contractual electricity consumption.

In the course of the regular raid work carried out by employees of Distribution Zones, the electricity metering department and the security unit of the Tver branch, 84 facts of theft of electric energy totalling 2.233 million kWh were recorded from the beginning of the current year. The amount of material damage caused to the branch was more than 8.6 million rubles.

One of the largest embezzlements was found in Konakovsky district of the Tver region. As part of a planned raid, specialists from the Tver branch discovered interference in the metering device operation at the consumer’s premises of the village of Vakhonino, which led to a distortion of data on the amount of electricity consumed. The consumer carried out “shorting” of power circuits with the help of current-measuring pincers, as well as connecting current collectors, bypassing the metering device. The amount of unauthorized energy consumption identified was 184.8 thous. kWh, while the actions of the violator caused Tverenergo the damage in the amount of 896.935 thousand rubles.

In Torzhoksky district, a consumer of the village of Budovo fulfilled an unauthorized connection after the restriction imposed by the branch on the mode of electricity consumption for arrears to pay it. The volume of non-contractual consumption in this case amounted to more than 45 thous. kWh, the damage caused to Tverenergo - about 356 thousand rubles.

A similar case of non-contractual energy consumption was recorded by the branch’s employees in the village of Rameshki. More than 135 thous. kWh were illegally “appropriated” by an unscrupulous consumer with damage to the power company in the amount of 914 thousand rubles.

For all the facts of energy stealing, employees of the Tver branch of IDGC of Centre have drawn up acts of non-metered electricity consumption, and statements have been sent to law enforcement agencies to bring persons to justice.

IDGC of Centre - Tverenergo division reminds that the legislation provides for severe punishment against criminals who illegally consume electricity. In the event of discovery of theft, the violator not only compensates for the damage to the electric grid company, but is also brought to criminal (the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, Art. 165 Part 2) or administrative liability with a fine (Art. 7.19 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation).

Conscientious consumers who regularly pay their electricity bills suffer greatly from criminal actions of thieves: due to theft, power surges occur, household appliances break down, probability of failures, fires and accidents increases.

Tver power engineers call upon residents of the region to fight criminals together. To report facts of theft of electric energy, please call the 24-hour direct line of power engineers at 8-800-50-50-115, the call is toll-free.
