The qualifying stage of the All-Russian School Olympiad of PJSC ROSSETI was held in the city of Kursk

On 2 and 3 March 2019, the qualifying stage of the All-Russian School Olympiad of PJSC ROSSETI, organized by IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division, based on the South-West State University (SWSU), took place in Kursk. More than 110 pupils of grades 9 and 10 of secondary schools of the city of Kursk and the Kursk region took part in the Olympiad.

Alexander Rudnevsky, Deputy General Director of IDGC of Centre - Kurskenergo division director noted: “At present, we will have to implement strategies for digital transformation of the regional power grid complex. To solve the assigned tasks in this direction, highly professional personnel are needed, who will be engaged in the development of advanced infrastructure and technological projects. The Olympiad provides an opportunity to identify young people with technical, creative abilities and innovative thinking. These very today’s students in the future will be able to become part of a friendly team of power engineers.”

For two days of the first qualifying stage of the Olympiad, high school students performed theoretical tasks in the framework of programs of secondary general education in mathematics, computer science, and physics. The level of their knowledge in these subjects will be checked and assessed by a commission consisting of representatives of the branch “Kurskenergo”, the Committee of Education and Science of the Kursk Region and the SWSU. The schoolchildren who have scored the maximum number of points will be admitted to the second stage, will receive the right to participate in the final stage of the School Olympiad “Hope of Energy”, and will also benefit with admission to the SWSU. Rewarding the winners of the first stage will be held 6 April in Moscow.

At the second (final) stage of the Olympiad of ROSSETI, participants who pass the first tests will have to complete complex tasks (cases) aimed at testing their creative abilities and ability to apply existing knowledge in physics, mathematics, and computer science to solve applied problems in the electric power industry.

Winners and prize-winners of the second stage of the Olympiad will receive the right to participate in the Energy Project Shift in one of the All-Russian children’s health centres, organized by PJSC ROSSETI.
