High school students of the Smolensk region took part in the second All-Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren of ROSSETI

The first qualifying round of the All-Russian Olympiad of schoolchildren ROSSETI in the Smolensk region, organized by IDGC of Centre - Smolenskenergo division, was held on 2 and 3 March on the basis of the branch of NRU MPEI in the city of Smolensk. The main goal of the Olympiad is to identify students who are talented, capable of technical creativity and innovative thinking, planning their professional activities in the electricity industry, and also involve them in the development of advanced infrastructure and technology projects relevant to the power grid complex of the Russian Federation.

Among those who wanted to test their knowledge were pupils of the ninth and tenth grades from 7 schools of the region. Schoolchildren from Desnogorsk, Safonov, Roslavl and Smolensk took part in the competition. The greatest number of applications for participation in the Olympiad came from school number 1 named after Przhevalsky of the city of Smolensk and school number 2 of Desnogorsk.

At the opening ceremony, the parting words to the participants were heard from Deputy Chief Engineer for Operation, Head of the High-Voltage Grids Office at Smolenskenergo Yury Krivtsov, and Deputy Director for Educational Work of the branch of NRU MPEI in the city of Smolensk Anna Nagornaya. Representatives of the HR department of Smolenskenergo told the future applicants about conducting targeted career guidance among young people and schoolchildren and supporting students in core specialties. For example, in the 2018-2019 academic year, 29 full-time students are scholars of IDGC of Centre and receive a corporate scholarship. In accordance with the agreements concluded, all of them after graduation will come to work at the grid company.

On the first day, the participants of the Olympiad carried out tasks aimed at checking the level of knowledge within the framework of programs of secondary general education in computer science and mathematics, and on Sunday they solved tasks in physics. Each subject took 2.5 hours. Sets of variants of tasks were developed by the methodical commission of the Olympiad. It also established uniform criteria and methods for checking the work, which will be carried out by the regional commission. Its regional commission includes teachers from the branch of NRU MPEI in the city of Smolensk - associate professors from various departments: Roman Solopov, Alexander Bykov, Sergey Obraztsov, Vladimir Bobkov. The jury also included Deputy Chief Engineer for Operation, Head of the High-Voltage Grids Office at Smolenskenergo Yury Krivtsov. The chairman of the regional jury is Alla Korolkova, the head of HR department at Smolenskenergo.
