Voronezhenergo’s specialists promptly restored the power supply of settlements of the Voronezh region, interrupted by bad weather

04.02.2019

Specialists of IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division promptly restored the power supply to consumers in the Voronezh region, interrupted as a result of a cyclone that passed over the region on 2 and 3 February.

Adverse weather conditions, characterized by temperature transitions through zero, caused the formation of icy on wires of power lines, which led to their crossing or breaking. Such a situation developed in Olkhovatsky, Kamensky, Liskinsky, Nizhnedevitsky and Kantemirovsky districts.

Voronezhenergo was ready for the bad weather. The branch introduced a state of high readiness, organized the duty of specialists, and established special control over the operation of electrical equipment and power lines. In case of emergency situations, the order of interaction with the regional departments of the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergencies of Russia was determined, and information was exchanged with regional authorities.

Voronezhenergo’s repair crews responded promptly to reports of technological violations, identified fault locations and eliminated them. Special attention was paid to the lines that provide socially significant facilities with electricity: they were restored first. If necessary, backup power supply sources were used.

“The work was complicated by bad roads and high snow cover at the places of power lines passing. However, our crews were provided with all necessary equipment and off-road vehicles, including snowmobiles. Thanks to the coordinated actions of Voronezhenergo’s specialists, the technological disruptions in the operation of electrical grids did not lead to massive outages of consumers in the districts of the region. At the moment, the power supply of all consumers in the service area of Voronezhenergo has been fully restored, the power engineers continue to monitor the situation and are ready to promptly eliminate any violations of the normal operation of the power grid complex,” stressed Chief Engineer of IDGC of Centre - Voronezhenergo division Vyacheslav Antonov.
